A wannabe singer - poetry

My theme was:  A woman who wants to be a singer but precisely has zero talent
...

There lived a girl in a small Indian town,
At every social gathering, she wore a long gown,
She smiled at everyone whom she met ,
For this reason, she was older folks' pet.
How nice and lovable, cultured and sweet.
Were the remarks embedded at her feet.
There was though something else she'd do,
Thought of herself a Cuckoo and go ku-oh-ku-oh,
Those who were not deaf could figure it out,
The identity crisis that had sprout,
Like everything on your shirt collar is not a bow,
Her voice resembled not a cuckoo but a crow.
A mute shrug and a loud sneer,
People tried everything to make it clear.
The girl still wanted to become a rockstar,
But her music made everybody go away far.
In search of an audiance, she walked out of the town
Her singing made even the blossoms frown.
Dejected but not disheartened, she kept moving on,
And so went her singing, awn and awn and awn.
Eventually she landed near a small house
Where lived a lonely old man without a spouse.
He gave her some cookies, milk and toast,
But there was something else that she liked the most.
He enjoyed what the world considered as noise;
He let her sing at the top of her voice,
As the man danced off beat to her off tune songs,
Something right was made out of two wrongs.

NaPoWriMo Day1: Immortalised

Hello again, it is good to be blogging again after a gap of two months. To foster ny writing, I am participating in NaPoWriMo, National Poetry Writing Month, where we have to write a poem each day for the 30 days of April. It is a very challenging task and I got only 50% success trying it twice before. Hope I come up victorious this time around.

NaPoWriMo Day1

When alone and lonely, you recite my words,
you utter my name too.
My presence though unseen,
stays like a fragrance,
pleasant or irksome, your call.
I am immortalised by the vibrations of your vocal cords.,
whether I exist or not in physical form.
Then why should I wish to be by your side for an evening-long
when I can stay forever in the manner of my words.

Love Shorts #21

''You have a way with words. You can make a simple sentence interesting just by the way you say it.''
''Maybe.''' I reflected on her compliment.
''Shut up, you idiot.'' She literally swore me for not accepting her compliment graciously.
''I can do it with only few situations and fee people.'' My eyes pointed towards her.
'You should not give me credit for your talent.'' she protested.
I paused to frame an answer in my mind. ''A writer cannot brag about his work for he knows not for how long would he keep producing it, but he can brag about his muse for constantly inspiring him.''

Love Shorts #16

''Sometimes I do not get any sleep despite lying on my bed for the whole night. It is like I am reading ten murder mysteries at once, not knowing the murderer in any of them.'' I told her my situation.
''Thatt's horrible. What do you do then?'' She asked in her concerned voice.
''I think of writing a blog post  suggesting Top 100 ways of getting sound sleep.''
''Why can't you be serious about anything?'' she snapped, ''What are you doing to cure your problem?''
''I am waiting for someone to rock my cradle and sing me a lullaby.''

Love Shorts #6

She tell me long tales of her everyday encounters. She describes the plot,  situation and characters with a surgeon-like precision, going back and forth in time. She provide all details, her insights, make impressions and suggest alternatives. Probably the actual events occur in a shorter passage of time . I am not to interrupt her for otherwise she will forget her narrative. All my comments are to wait for an unforseen time when the narrative ends.
''If I were so adept  at narrating details I would have been a prolific novelist.,'' I remark on her proficiency. ''How do you manage that?''
''Just as you manage to be a gracious listener..'' She answers

Thank you for your love and support

Thank you for your love and support, has been a very frequently used line by me. The reason for that I know we live in a tough world where there is little value for what used to be the most valuable things . Poetry for instance, has a force that only your heart and soul can feel. When people appreciate my poetry, I feel obliged and a sense of accomplishment drives me. All is not lost after all, I feel.

This Thanksgiving day, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude towards everyone who has read my book, followed my blog or facebook page and by doing so have encouraged me to pursue my passion. Thank you, thank you and thank you so much.

I promise to keep you entrained with my poetry and wits. Stay with me.

Love.
